[XXI의 質問들]

건축이란 무엇인가? 우리는 왜 건축을 하는가? 좋은 건축이란 무엇인가? 건축은 어떻게 우리의 삶에 영향을 미치는가? 우리는 건축을 단순한 물리적 공간으로만 이해할 수 없다. 그것은 시대와 인간을 반영하며, 그 속에서 살아가는 사람들의 가치관과 문화를 담아낸다. 그렇기에 질문하는 자세는 건축가로서 사고를 확장하고 탐구하는 과정의 핵심이다. 건축과 공간은 정적인 것이 아니라, 사람들의 삶의 방식에 따라 변화하며, 시대적 요구에 따라 새롭게 해석된다. 그렇기에 건축가는 끊임없이 질문해야 한다.

이번 졸업전시는 'XXI의 質問들'이라는 주제로, 지난 5년간 동고동락한 건축 속 본인이 고민하던 질문들을 탐구하고 꺼내보는 자리다. 우리는 건축을 통해 어떤 질문을 던지 수 있는지 고민하며, 마주한 질문들을 함께 나누고 사고하고자 한다.

건축에는 정답이 없지만, 질문은 더 나은 건축을 만드는 토대가 된다. 질문을 던지지 않는다면 우리는 변화를 이끌어낼 수 없고, 새로운 무언가를 만날 수도 없다. 따라서 단 하나의 정답을 찾기보다는, 다양한 해석을 통해 공간을 바라보고, 변화하는 사회적 요구에 맞춰 건축적 사고의 확장을 꾀하고자 한다. 졸업 전시의 작품은 단순한 결과물이 아니라, 우리가 마주한 스물 하나의 질문들, 그리고 그 질문을 바탕으로 각자의 자세를 보여주는 자리이다. 이를 통해 우리가 건축가로써 어떠한 질문을 던질 수 있고, 던지고 있는지 나눠보고자 한다. 오늘의 질문이 내일의 자세를 만들고, 더 나아가 앞으로의 삶을 대하는 태도의 원동력이 되길 바래본다.

What is architecture? Why do we build? What makes architecture “good”? How does it shape our lives? Architecture cannot be understood merely as a physical space. It reflects its time and people, embodying the values and cultures of those who live within it. That is why questioning lies at the heart of an architect’s thinking and exploration. Architecture and space are not static—they transform with the ways people live and are continually reinterpreted in response to the demands of the era. Thus, architects must ask questions—constantly.

Our graduation exhibition, "XXI Questions", is an occasion to explore and reflect on the questions that have accompanied us throughout the past five years of studying architecture. It is a moment to bring those personal inquiries to the surface and share them with others—to think, reflect, and wonder together about what kinds of questions we can and should ask through architecture.

There is no single right answer in architecture, but questions provide the foundation for better design. Without them, we cannot drive change, nor can we encounter anything truly new. Instead of searching for one correct answer, we seek to embrace multiple interpretations, expand architectural thinking, and respond to the ever-evolving demands of society.​ The works presented in this exhibition are not mere final outcomes. They are responses to twenty-one questions we have faced—questions that reveal our individual perspectives and positions as designers. Through them, we hope to share what it means to ask questions as architects, and how those questions shape who we are becoming. May today’s questions become tomorrow’s stance, and may they continue to fuel how we engage with life, both within and beyond architecture.
